One category of Anhui Provincial Key R&D Programmes is specifically designed to support joint projects between Anhui-based entities and international partners based abroad (or in Hong Kong and Macao SARs). Specific research fields supported vary every year.
Research fields for 2020
New generation ICT; smart cities; advanced manufacturing; modern agriculture; biopharmaceuticals; new materials; new energy; and green technologies.
Amount of funding
Direct project funding: 300,000 RMB, 500,000 RMB, or 800,000 RMB per project.
Eligibility requirements
- Particular priority is granted to projects with partners from “Belt and Road” countries, central and eastern European countries, Southeast Asia, Germany, and from federal districts along the Volga river in Russia.
- Projects are expected to contribute to major socio-economic benefits, and/or to solve key scientific issues. Project objectives should be clear.
- Projects that involve the collection, utilisation, transport, import/export of genetic resources, or that involve animal experiments, should abide by relevant Chinese laws, regulations, standards, and ethics.

Applications are submitted by the Chinese partner, to municipal- and district-level S&T bodies where the applicant is located. Their pre-review and endorsement is required. Some areas may have quotas in terms of maximum number of proposals that can be endorsed.
